The Consolidation of media continues

A proposed $85.4 billion mega-merger by AT&T and Time Warner would give the telecommunications giant control over  HBO, CNN, Warner Bros. studios and other assets. At&T seems to be gearing up more towards content as it’s wireless phone and broadband business continues to slow. It bought satellite provide DirectTv last year.

New polls show voters may be scarred from this year’s election

As if we didn’t know this already. A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that Americans aged 18 to 34 are slightly less likely to vote for president this year than the democgraphic group in 2012. Hardly a mention in the article of third-party candidates and the reason why people are turned off by the Clinton machine.

Over a hundred arrested in #DAPL protests

Over a hundred water protectors were arrested over the weekend protesting the pipeline in North Dakota. The activists had set up a new camp just across highway 1806  from the site of the labor day showdown where private security maced and sicked dogs on protestors, and also stopped traffice for several hours.

Besides the usual display of militarization, witnesses interviewed by Democracy Now report that some cops were riding on what looked like dune buggies. Maybe that sheriff’s deputy from my current state of residence who was found passed out drunk had just also imbibed a dose of last year’s blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road.

In any case, the mainstream media’s continued silence is troubling, to say the least.

Fight shaping up over proposed mind on sacred tribal sight along Wisconsin-Michigan Border

A Canadian corporation is angling to drill a $260 million dollar open air pit just off the Menominee River near the Wisconsin-Michigan Border, considered sacred by the native american tribe of the same name.

Though some of its petitions has been approved, at least one was granted based on outdated maps of what Michigan state authorities consider to be environmentally sensitive areas.

Hundreds of people have written or spoken out against the proposed sulfide mine by Aquila Resources Inc. At the current rate, the mine is expected to be complete by this summer.

Female state senator claims Trump reflects women’s priorities

Surprise, surprise. There’s still an active contingent of elected officials boosting Trump. Even female ones.

State Sen. Alberta Darling, R-River Hills, co-chair of the the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee and a leader of Wisconsin Women for Trump, came out swinging for the Donald on a conservative talk show yesterday.

Yes, his hot mic comments 11 years ago are “indefensible,” Darling said, but he’s since married and had a “wonderful little child”, by which she was referring to Ivanka Trump, (who’s already 34, for the record).

I wonder if she’ll be on the receiving end of any of the cool $1 House Speaker Paul Ryan has pumped into the state GOP.
